Stellar lineup takes centre stage as Theatre Sheridan announces 2025/26 season
Theatre Sheridan has unveiled its 2025/26 season, featuring an inspiring mix of classic favourites and theatrical adaptations, along with works in development and full-scale musicals.
The season continues Sheridan’s legacy as a leader in training the next generation of Canadian theatre artists while offering audiences a diverse range of unforgettable performances.
“Theatre Sheridan is more than a season of shows – it's a training ground, a creative hub and a community,” said Tania Senewiratne, Sheridan’s Associate Dean of the Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design. “It’s also a unique collaboration between the exceptionally talented students in our Bachelor Music Theatre Performance and Technical Production programs. We are delighted to bring this new season of shows to life for our audiences as we continue to build the future of Canadian theatre.”
All shows highlight the talents of fourth year students in the Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance program and first, second and third year students in the Technical Production for the Performing Arts Industry program.
Full-scale musicals
The mainstage lineup kicks off in December with the beloved Sondheim fairy tale Into the Woods, and Legally Blonde, inspired by the 2001 film. March brings the award-winning mystery-comedy The Drowsy Chaperone, and the pulse-pounding adventure In Real Life — a show first developed at Sheridan, now being performed as a full-scale musical in collaboration with The Musical Stage Company.
Works in development
Theatre Sheridan continues its tradition of fostering new Canadian theatre through its developmental series.
In First Drafts, Performance and Technical students work with some of the best Canadian writers and composers to offer workshop presentations of two never-before-seen scripts, Meat and Séance, which will be performed as a double-feature.
The Musical Development Project will showcase collaborations with Sheridan students and artists from around the world. Geoffrey Chaucer’s The Canterbury Tales, a Stratford Festival commission, is performed as a play with music rather than a musical and Way Out There is created as a partnership with YES Theatre in Sudbury. These shows are in their final stages of development and, along with First Drafts, will be stand-and-sing presentations.
Student showcases
For those looking to experience even more of what Theatre Sheridan has to offer, Student Showcases in the spring will give audiences a closer look at the breadth of student talent.
- Creative Cabaret Projects are a personalized performance that showcases each performer's unique approach to their craft, in collaboration with fellow classmates and accompanists (dates and details coming soon).
- Students in the Artistic Teams Showcase demonstrate their leadership skills as directors, music directors or choreographers (February 14, 2026).
- Students in the Commercial Artist Development stream will present a pop concert, Unveiled: The Next Gen Sound (formerly known as Pop Critiques), to show off their distinctive voice as they work with fellow students, a music director and the technical production team (February 12 and 13, 2026).
- Students in the writing stream will develop original works for the Writers’ Showcase where audiences can preview emerging talent and fresh voices (dates and details coming soon).
